should overweight airline passengers have to buy an extra seat?
Im not just talking about 10, 20, or 30 lbs overweight. Im talking about morbid obese passengers whose extra weight seeps into the seat of their neighboring passenger
I boarded a full flight from Honolulu to San Francisco (a 5-hr flight) several years ago, with seats on each side and a middle section with 5 seats. My seat was in the middle, and next to me was an obese lady who had put up the arm rest and was taking up a third of my seat. Her overweight husband was next to her and they were squashed together. The flight attendant said there were no extra seats, and she was sorry that I couldn’t move. Being only 110 pounds, I managed to squash myself in next to her fat rolls, but it was a miserable five hours. I felt sorry for the lady, and I got up and walked as much as I could, but it was just not fair that I had to do that, I paid for a seat, and felt that I should have gotten a seat, not a little piece of a seat.
