Dior: luxury phone with 641 diamonds

Top designer Dior has unveiled a sleek new cell phone set with 641 diamonds and 34 black sapphire crystals.

The phone, called Dior Phone Diamonds (Glorious Black), is the latest entry in the designer phone market. In recent years, Chanel, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna, and Armani have all released luxury phones.

The Dior Phone Diamonds is a flip phone, and its exterior is designed to look like a hand-brushed stainless steel case. The phone is set with hundreds of diamonds – even the hinges are diamond-encrusted – and has a total diamond weight of 3.251 carats.

All the jewels come with a hefty price tag: the phone costs a whopping $28,000. (For the less fortunate, there’s a Swarovski crystal version that starts from $8,000.)

The Dior Phone Diamonds (Glorious Black) is available in Dior stores. The luxury mobile phone market just keeping upping the game. Dior has just announced their latest handset which moves the bar into an almost “super-luxury” world. Their Black Diamond Phone embeds diamonds in just about every possible moving part – diamonds in the hinge and on the dial. We wait on the edge of our seat to see which luxury line will top this offering.

What type of cell phone do you Bagista’s carry? In the past couple of years, high-end designers have followed the fad of releasing cellular phones made exclusively to trademark their brand. Some infamous couture designers who have followed this trend include, Dolce & Gabanna, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, and now, French designer Christian Dior who has recently released its own piece of couture technology.

This sleek phones most obvious trait is Christian Dior’s Cannage design featured throughout the entire cellphones’ exterior. More features found on the Dior phone includes a Mini Camera, touch screen display and an extender for your phone that is meant to clip onto a woman’s handbag, or better yet, a woman’s Christian Dior handbag. A set retail price hasn’t been released for the Dior Diamond Phone, but a limited edition diamond encrusted “My Dior” phone’s will be available for retail price tag of $5,000!!!

So what do you Bagista’s think about Dior’s luxury cell phones? Do you find this phone to be amazing, rare and a great investment (that’s if you have the 5K to drop on a cellphone) or do you find this product to be incredibly useless, since, it’s really just a cellphone?

Amid the trend of fashion labels presenting their own mobile devices, French luxury brand Dior has announced its latest gadget that might be something of interest for fashion and technology fans alike.

The big news about the second generation of the Dior collection is that each of the five different phones will come with its own mini-version (called ‘mini My Dior’) that — placed in the palm of your hand or attached to your bag — operates through Bluetooth technology up to 15 meters away from the actual device. What this means is that calls can be made and answered on the go without removing the larger Luxury Mobile from the handbag.

This new gadget unsurprisingly comes at a high price: with platings such as diamond, gold, sapphire or mother of pearl, the phones will range between $6,500 and $13,400.

New Dior Bluetooth headsets have also just been launched; they are already available at diorcouture.com in black and in white for $470 each.

Dior’s announcement follows the news that Italian luxe label Armani will release its new generation of mobile phones together with Samsung later this year.

Prada launched one of the most successful fashion phones together with electronics company LG in 2007, while Samsung collaborated with various clothes brands previously, such as Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, Versace’s Versus branch or Diane von Furstenberg. LG and Samsung rival Sony Ericsson teamed up with Italian design duo Dolce & Gabbana earlier this year for a gold-plated edition of one of its clamshell phones, called Jalou.

Other designers, most recently Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger or Donna Karan, are increasingly discovering the mobile device through iPhone applications.
