What is the best pocket to get, and the best way to string it for a defender in lacrosse?
I play high school level lacrosse, and i can’t find a pocket that works for me. I need to be able to throw long passed fairly well, and i need it to be good for cradling the ball. I have tried 6 diamond mesh and hard 10 diamond mesh and neither of them have proven to be helpful good pockets. Any advice on buying and stringing my next pocket would be nice.
Its all your personal prefrence. If you want a pocket thats easy to catch with and easy to throw with go for a lower pocket near the throat of your head and choose between soft and hard mesh.
If you want a pocket with a quick realse, go for a higher pocket near the scoop. This will give you improved cradling and a quick realse.
Since you are a defender i would string your stick with regular 10 diamond medium mesh ( mix between hard and soft ) if you cant find medium mesh then go with soft. String it so that the ball sits higher up near the scoop, meaning you will have to place your shooters up higher so that the ball sits on one of them. Dont string any V’s in your mesh with shooters, this will comletley ruin the high pocket and give you an un-orthadox kinda feel. Make sure your pocket isnt too deep or you wont be able to throw that well with it.
A higher pocket will improve cradling and realse, personally i reccomend it for you judging by your question description.
