How To Choose A Safe Baby Crib

There are many good crib collections available in the market, Da Vinci Kalani Convertible Crib being one of them. Despite all those tall claims a manufacturer may make, how do you satisfy yourself that a particular make is really safe for your baby? How can you be sure that it wont disappoint you and will be perfectly safe for the baby? Fortunately for you, I have just the information which will allow you check if a crib is really safe or not by checking on a few very simple thing.

The first thing to consider is that the mattress should not have any room to move within the crb walls. There should be no missing or broken hardware protruding at odd angles from the crib and certainly no cut outs in the head boards and foot boards.

There i muc deliberation about the slats of the crib. They should be no more than 2 3/8″ apart from each other. trying to pass a soda can through the slats is a good way to measure this. If you are unable to do that, you are good to go. The corner posts are not to be higher than 1/16 of an inch.

Another issue that has recently come up is the drop sides. many cribs in the market like the Richmond Convertible Crib are now manufactured with drop sides which can be lowered for the convinience of putting the baby in and taking it out of teh crib. New warnings from the concerned authorities have reported them to be highly dangerous. There fore all parents are advised to stay away from drop sides for the time being.

Mattress heights is also something you want to pay attention to. It is advisable to have a multilayered mattress system. 2 mattress heights is advisable, 3 is even better. Some cribs like the Bonavita Tomi Collection come with this feature builtin. YOu need to look out for how this feature is supported though. A crib which holds the mattresses with vinyl straps is not a good choice. Metal bars is better but a spring system is the best.
