What kind of carseat for my child?
She’s 4 and still currently uses her Britax Marathon, however I was thinking that she was ready for a booster? I’m not sure. The Britax goes up to 65lbs for children 27″-49″. She’s 47lbs and 42″. I’ve been looking at some backless booster seats (Combi Dakota, Clek Olli, or Graco TurboBooster specifically) which are all 40-100lbs for children 33″-57″. I mean, since she could fit into either, I’m not sure if I should keep her in the Marathon longer or move her to a booster? Whichever one I choose will be used on a roadtrip from PA to FL in May. I’m just tryna get a headstart. Any recommendations?
You should keep her in the harness. Every step ‘up’ in carseats is a step *down* in safety. Ever notice that race car drivers *still* use a five point harness system like your daughter is in now? It is simply safer… so as long as it is practical… as long as a seat is made that she fits in correctly… keep her in the harnessed seat.
I hate to use ‘scare tactics’… but if you are interested you can browse youtube and find several videos by grieving parents who lost a child in a booster seat that would have fit in a harness. They have taken the time to let as many as will listen know what *they* believe is safer…. what very well could have saved their child’s life.
